FOOTBALL - Rugby Borough secure seventh straight league win as Royals lift cup

RUGBY Borough pulled further clear at the top of the table with a 2-0 win against Highfield Rangers to secure a seventh straight league victory.

Borough struck twice in the second half through Ryley Nicholson and Dale Linton the former scoring his first goal for the club with a header from a corner.

The champions are now 11 points clear of Allexton and New Parks at the top of the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division with one match left to play.

And Rugby Borough Royals won their second trophy of the season with a 5-2 victory against Hillmorton Firsts in the Division One cup final at Daventry Sports.




Despite falling two goals behind early on, Rugby drew level with two penalties before Jack Downes scored a hat-trick to ensure the cup went home with Borough.

Borough’s first team finish their league campaign away at Cottesmore AFC on Saturday, April 30 with kick-off at 3pm at Westray Park.


And the Royals could complete a treble when they play Hillmorton again in the Hospital Cup final on Sunday, May 1 with kick-off at 2pm at Butlin Road.

Rugby Borough are also preparing for a final when they play Coventry Alvis in the Coventry Charity Cup Final on Wednesday, May 4 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Entrance fees will be £6 for adults and £3 for under 16’s inclusive of a programme.
