RUGBY Borough saw their winless run at home stretch to six matches following a 3-1 defeat against Sutton Coldfield Town.

Borough fell behind early on only to draw level later in the first half as Benji Adomako tapped home at Kilsby Lane.

However, a brace from James McGrady either side of half time condemned Rugby to defeat.

And the result means Borough sit 10th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, six points outside of the play-off places.

Sutton Coldfield broke the deadlock after just two minutes with Borough defender Rich Black only able to turn McGrady’s dangerous ball across the six-yard box into his own net.

And Sutton almost doubled their lead on the quarter-hour mark when Jayden Campbell’s curling effort struck the inside of the post.

Rugby goalkeeper Sam Lomax then denied Reece Gibson after the latter attempted to catch the keeper out at his near post.

However, Borough equalised on 28 minutes when Adomako reacted quickest in the box to bundle the ball home.

Sutton reclaimed the lead one minute before the break as McGrady headed Kory Burke’s ball across the face of goal into the net at the back post.

And the visitors sealed the points on 74 minutes when McGrady and Gibson exchanged passes in the box and the latter poked home to score his second of the game.

Rugby are next in action against Boldmere St Michaels on Saturday, December 20 with kick-off at 3pm at Kilsby Lane.
