RUGBY Borough suffered back-to-back home defeats in the league for the first time this season after losing 3-1 against Anstey Nomads.

Borough fell behind to Courey Grantham’s early goal before Jordan Annable double the away side’s lead after the break at Kilsby Lane.

The home side halved the deficit courtesy of substitute Amarvir Sandhu’s late goal only for Kyle Tomlin to seal the points for the visitors at the death.

And the result means Rugby sit 10th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, three points outside of the play-off places.

Anstey broke the deadlock on 12 minutes when Grantham stooped to head in Tristen Thomas’s cross from the left at the back post.

And the visitors doubled their lead on 76 minutes as Annable nodded into an empty net from close range after Borough failed to deal with a ball into the box from the left.

Rugby reduced the deficit on 81 minutes when substitute Sandhu found the net.

However, Anstey restored their two-goal lead eight minutes later as Tomlin exchanged passes with Nyle Blake before finding the bottom left corner.

Rugby host Basford United on Saturday, November 22 with kick-off at 3pm at Kilsby Lane.
