RUGBY Town suffered a 2-1 defeat at Quorn in their first away game of the season in midweek as a couple of crazy minutes in the second half saw Valley miss and then concede a penalty at Farley Way.
Quorn took the lead through Cain Noble’s goal early in the second half only for Valley’s Ryan Sahota to equalise almost immediately with a near post flick from Drew Kear’s cross.
And Rugby had a chance to complete the turnaround when Sahota went down was in the box only for Jordan Wilson to put the resulting penalty wide of the goal.
Quorn took full advantage of that reprieve and won a penalty of their own moments later as Ryan Berwick made no mistake from the spot to seal the points for the home side with five minutes left to play.
Rugby are next in action at home to Newcastle Town in the FA Cup on Saturday, August 19 with kick-off at 3pm at Butlin Road.
