RUGBY Town stretched their unbeaten run to three matches with an impressive 3-0 victory away at Sutton Coldfield Town.

Valley led by two goals at the break courtesy of strikes from Harrison Nee and Sam Tye at Coles Lane.

And an own goal from Tom Hurley completed the scoring as Rugby claimed their biggest league win of the season so far.

The result means Valley sit 16th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, two points clear of the relegation zone.

Rugby broke the deadlock on 16 minutes when Nee’s low finish beat James Wren in the Sutton goal from Caine Elliott’s through ball.

The visitors hit the post twice in quick succession soon after as both Tye and Josh Thomas struck the woodwork.

And the chances continued to flow as Tye saw a close-range header saved by Wren before Nathan Kabeya flashed a shot narrowly wide.

And Valley eventually doubled their lead on 37 minutes as Tye finished on the rebound after Cairo Taylor’s flick from Nee’s cross came back off the post.

More chances came and went for the away side before Hurley put through his own net on 68 minutes as he inadvertently turned Taylor’s low cross from the right past Wren in the Sutton goal.

Rugby are next in action against Coventry Sphinx on Saturday, October 18 with kick-off at 3pm at Butlin Road.
