RUGBY Town ended the year with a 3-0 home defeat against Mickleover on Boxing Day.
A first-half brace from Thabang Dube put the visitors in command before Louis Bonser sealed the points for the away side at Butlin Road.
The result means Rugby sit 15th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, five points clear of the relegation zone.
Valley fell behind on 34 minutes when Dube fired a low shot into the net on the turn from 12-yards out.
And Dube struck again one minute before the break as he powered a shot past Marcus Bald at the goalkeeper’s near post.
Mickleover made sure of the points on 66 minutes when a defensive mix-up allowed Bonser to fire a loose ball into the top corner via the aid of a deflection.
Rugby are next in action against Shepshed Dynamo on Thursday, January 1 with kick-off at 3pm at the Dovecote Stadium.
