RUGBY Town exited the Birmingham Senior Cup following a 4-1 home defeat against a youthful Birmingham City side.
A second-half goal from Harrison Nee kept Valley in the contest only for a late brace from Ben Wodskou to put the game to bed at Butlin Road.
That came after Daniel Isichei netted either side of the break for Blues as Rugby suffered a second round exit.
Blues broke the deadlock after just 10 minutes when Isichei beat Paul Hathaway in the Rugby goal with a low curling effort from 25-yards out.
And Isichei struck again on 53 minutes as he took the ball around Hathaway and a covering defender before firing into an empty net.
Valley responded four minutes later when Nee fired a low shot past Will O’Sullivan after cutting in from the left.
The home side almost drew level as Trey Charles saw his effort deflect wide while Nee also missed the target from a similar position to his goal earlier in the half.
Blues eventually sealed their place in the next round on 77 minutes as Hathaway failed to clear his lines at a corner and substitute Wodskou finished into an unguarded net.
And Wodskou scored his second of the game five minutes later when he finished Isichei’s cutback from six-yards out.
Rugby are next in action against Quorn on Saturday, November 30 with kick-off at 3pm at Butlin Road.
