FOOTBALL - Rugby Town finish home campaign with win before Easington defeat on Easter Monday

RUGBY Town finished their home campaign with a 2-1 win against Northants ON Chenecks before then slipping to a defeat by the same scoreline at Easington Sports on Easter Monday.

Justin Marsden and Caine Elliott were on target in the win against Chenecks before Jonny Muddiman pulled a goal back for the visitors.

And Valley were then beaten at Easington despite Elliott’s first-half goal putting the visitors ahead as Alfie Dunn and Luke Swann struck in the second period to condemn Rugby to defeat.

The results leave Rugby in third place in the United Counties League Premier Division South table with one match left to play.

Town finish their campaign with a trip Potton United this weekend and know a win will secure a third place finish in the league.

Rugby’s clash with Potton takes place on Saturday, April 23 with kick-off at 3pm at The Hollow.
