RUGBY Town have been drawn away at Westfields in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup.

Valley beat the Hereford-based side at the preliminary round stage of the competition back in 2014.

The two clubs play at the same step in the non-league pyramid with Westfields finishing seventh in the Hellenic League Premier Division last term.

And the winner of the tie will travel to either Studley or Heanor Town in the first qualifying round on Saturday, August 20.

It marks the first time in nine years that Rugby have not been drawn against Midland League opposition in their opening FA Cup fixture.

Valley were beaten by Stone Old Alleynians in the preliminary round of last season’s competition.

Elsewhere, Rugby have been handed a bye into the second round proper of the FA Vase, where they reached the fifth round last season, and will not enter the competition until November.

Rugby’s clash with Westfields takes place on Saturday, August 6 at Allpay Park.
