RUGBY Town moved out of the relegation zone after producing a late comeback to win 2-1 against Coleshill Town.
Valley scored twice in the space of seven minutes late on as Caine Elliott and Callum Griffin both struck to seal Rugby’s first home league win of the season at Butlin Road.
That came after Theo Rowe put Coleshill ahead on 69 minutes only for Valley to stage a late comeback.
The result means Rugby sit 18th in the Northern Premier League Midlands, above the relegation zone on goals scored.
After a goalless first period, Coleshill broke the deadlock when former Valley winger Rowe combined with Ben Usher-Shipway before firing a low shot into the corner.
However, the home side equalised on 77 minutes as Elliott found the net from 20-yards out from Griffin’s lay-off after good work from Rivel Mardenborough.
And Valley completed the turnaround on 84 minutes when Griffin fooled his marker and wrong-footed Coleshill goalkeeper Cameron Belford with a snapshot at his near post.
Home goalkeeper Marcus Bald made a fine reaction save to tip Joe Morley’s close-range volley over the bar at the death before Mardenborough missed a chance to seal the points with the final action of the game.
Rugby travel to Basford United on Saturday, October 11 with kick-off at 3pm at Greenwich Avenue.
