RUGBY Town remain in the relegation zone after suffering a 4-1 home defeat against Quorn as Valley lost for the fourth league game in a row.

Despite Jordan Wilson firing Rugby into an early lead, Paddy Webb and Cain Noble both struck twice for Quorn as the visitors scored three late goals to seal the points at Butlin Road.

And the result means Valley sit 19th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, two points from safety with two games in-hand on the team above them.

Valley took the lead on four minutes as Wilson powered in a superb effort off the crossbar before seeing two further shots well-saved by Quorn goalkeeper Charlie Woods.

However, after twice going close to an equaliser, Quorn eventually levelled the game on 29 minutes when Webb’s low finish found the net.

The home side almost reclaimed the lead at the start of the second period as Woods pushed away James Mace’s volley.

However, Quorn completed the turnaround on 75 minutes as Noble headed home Charlie Marzano’s floated cross at the far post.

And the visitors struck again five minutes later as Noble intercepted Mace’s miscued back pass before coolly finding the net.

Quorn completed the scoring on 89 minutes as Webb scored a stunning goal from distance to ensure Valley remain in the relegation zone.

Rugby are next in action away at Sutton Coldfield Town on Saturday, December 23 with kick-off at 3pm at Central Ground.
