JORDAN Wilson’s second-half goal helped Rugby Town to a come-from-behind 2-1 victory against Shepshed Dynamo as Valley secured back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
Wilson completed the turnaround early in the second half after Silvano Obeng cancelled out Shaun Rudvidzo’s opener while Dan Summerfield saw red late on at the Dovecote Stadium.
And the result means Rugby sit 16th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, three points clear of the relegation zone.
Shepshed took the lead on 17 minutes when Rudvidzo broke free down the left before producing a low finish past Valley goalkeeper Nykah Liburd-Hines.
However, Rugby drew level on 42 minutes when Obeng fired the ball into the roof of the net from six-yards out from Josh Thomas’s cutback.
And Valley completed the comeback on 55 minutes when Wilson’s deflected shot found the net to score his fourth goal in his last three games after playing a neat one-two with Obeng.
However, Dan Summerfield’s dismissal on 79 minutes for a second bookable offence set up a nervy finish as Liburd-Hines made a crucial save in injury time to preserve the points.
Rugby are next in action at home to Boldmere St Michaels on Saturday, November 18 with kick-off at 3pm at Butlin Road.
