STAR midfielder Caine Elliott has turned down a new deal at Rugby Town to join step three side Halesowen Town whilst six other players have also left the club.

Elliott has joined the newly-promoted Southern League Premier Central side having enjoyed a fine 2022/23 season with Valley.

The midfielder helped the club achieve promotion from the United Counties League Premier Division South last term and departs Valley having scored 26 goals in 112 appearances.

Valley boss Carl Adams said: “Everyone at the club really wanted to keep Caine for another season at least but the lad has great potential and we wish him all the best in his footballing journey.

“We think Halesowen have got themselves a real talent and we think he’ll do really well for them.”

And the 21-year-old is one of seven players to depart Rugby along with Ryan Seal, MJ Semahimbo, Michael Taylor, James Fry, Ben Whitehead and Ash Bodycote.

Adams added: “I’d like to thank the whole squad for their efforts last season in getting the club back to the Northern Premier League.

“The strength of the dressing room was a key factor in our success and we wish those moving on all the best.”
