CAINE Elliott scored with virtually the last kick of the game as Rugby Town struck twice late on to draw 2-2 at Loughborough Students.
Elliott levelled the game six minutes into injury time after Rivel Mardenborough’s 83rd-minute strike kept Valley in the contest at Loughborough Stadium.
That came after goals from Marcus Gilpin and Hussein Issa put Loughborough in command only for Rugby to stage a dramatic late comeback.
The result means Valley sit 18th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, one point above the relegation zone.
All four goals came after the break as Gilpin put Loughborough ahead on 54 minutes after good work from Issa.
And Issa doubled Loughborough’s lead on 78 minutes with a clinical finish past Rugby goalkeeper Tomasz Bukowski.
However, Rugby halved the deficit seven minutes from time when Mardenborough’s low effort on the turn set up a grandstand finish.
And Elliott snatched a point for Valley six minutes into stoppage time when his deflected free-kick drifted into the net.
Rugby are next in action against Belper Town in the FA Trophy on Saturday, September 20 with kick-off at 3pm at Butlin Road.
