RUGBY Town suffered an agonising 1-0 defeat away at Walsall Wood after conceding three minutes into injury time.
Kevin Monteiro’s goal deep into stoppage time inflicted a third straight defeat on Carl Adams’ side in all competitions at the John Sylvester Stadium.
And the result means Rugby sit 18th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, three points above the relegation zone.
Walsall dominated the first half with Valley managing a single shot on target courtesy of David Kolodynski’s free-kick from 30-yards out.
And Valley’s Silvano Obeng spurned two gilt-edged chances after the break to put the visitors in front, misses which would ultimately prove costly.
The home side eventually broke the deadlock in the 93rd minute as Monteiro volleyed home a cross to break Rugby’s resistance after goalkeeper Nykah Liburd-Hines made a number of fine saves throughout.
Valley are next in action at home to Hinckley Leicester Road on Saturday, December 2 with kick-off at 3pm at Butlin Road.
