RUGBY Town dropped into the relegation zone following a 3-1 defeat at Coleshill Town as Valley lost a sixth successive fixture in all competitions.

Loyiso Recci briefly drew Rugby level from the penalty spot at the start of the second half only for the home side to restore their lead soon after and then seal the points at Pack Meadow.

The result means Rugby sit 19th in the Northern Premier League Midlands table, one point from safety after nine matches.

Despite Valley appealing for a free-kick after Roger Lee lost possession, Coleshill took the lead two minutes before half time through Theo Rowe’s superb strike into the top corner

Rugby equalised on 51 minutes when Edwin Ahenkorah drew a foul in the penalty area and Recci sent the goalkeeper the wrong way from the resulting spot kick.

However, Coleshill reclaimed the lead just three minutes later when midfielder George Washbourne darted into the box and found the corner of the goal with a smart finish.

And the home side wrapped up the win on 75 minutes as Rowe scored his second of the game from inside the area following some slack defending.

Rugby are next in action at home to Anstey Nomads on Saturday, October 14 with kick-off at 3pm at Butlin Road.
