RUGBY Town secured a fourth successive victory with a 2-0 win against Rothwell Corinthians as Valley closed in on a third place finish in the league.

Headers in either half from Jamal Clarke and David Kolodynski ensured Rugby ran out comfortable winners as they recorded a third consecutive clean sheet at Sergeants Lawn.

The result means Valley sit third in the United Counties League Premier Division South table with just four matches left to play.

An uneventful first half came to life on 35 minutes when Clarke headed home from a few yards out after he timed his run perfectly to meet Justin Marsden’s floated corner.

The visitors responded in the second period when Luca Miller flashed a ball across the face of Ash Bodycote’s goal before the Rugby keeper pulled of a fine save to push Zac Allen’s shot from the angle over the bar.

However, Valley extended their lead and wrapped up the points on 75 minutes when Kolodynski nodded in from close range after Madundo Semahimbo delivered a perfect cross from the left.

Rugby are next in action at home to Wellingborough Town on Saturday, April 9 with kick-off at 3pm at Butlin Road.
