FOOTBALL - Valley left in the dark after MK Irish clash abandoned due to floodlight failure

Rugby Editorial 19th Apr, 2023   0

RUGBY Town’s title challenge has been left in the dark after their midweek game at Milton Keynes Irish was abandoned due to floodlight failure.

Valley needed to beat MK Irish to have any chance of winning the title this weekend only for the floodlights to fail at Manor Fields 21 minutes into their Tuesday night clash with the game goalless.

A rearranged date for the fixture will be announced in due course.

That came after Rugby guaranteed their place in the end of season play-offs with a thrilling 4-3 win against Eynesbury Rovers last weekend.

Valley trail leaders Coventry Sphinx by four points at the top of the United Counties League Premier Division South table and know a Sphinx win on the final day would clinch the title for the Coventry club.

Rugby finish the season at home to Wellingborough Town on Saturday, April 22 with kick-off at 3pm at Butlin Road.
