RUGBY Town are hoping to return to winning ways this weekend when they travel to GNG Oadby Town.
Valley drew 2-2 with March Town United in their most recent outing after last weekend’s clash with Godmanchester Rovers was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
Rugby’s lead at the top of the United Counties League Premier Division South table has been cut to 10 points whilst second-placed Coventry Sphinx have two games in hand.
However, Valley should be in confident mood this weekend having eased to a 4-0 win in the reverse fixture at Butlin Road.
That win came back in October as David Kolodynski scored twice with further goals from Edwin Ahenkorah and Ryan Seal.
And that victory proved to be the start of a 13-game winning run in the league that saw Rugby ascend to the top of the table.
Valley’s winning run came to an end at home to Desborough Town last month as Carl Adams’s side slipped to a 1-0 defeat in injury time.
However, Rugby bounced back to thrash Long Buckby 4-0 before the aforementioned 2-2 draw with March Town.
Should Coventry win their two games in hand, Valley will be four points clear at the top of the table with seven matches left to play.
After their trip to Oadby, Rugby face a tough test against FA Vase semi-finalists Newport Pagnell Town before then travelling to Milton Keynes Irish.
Following those matches, Valley travel to Godmanchester Rovers and Rothwell Corinthians before finishing the season with home matches against Eynesbury Rovers and Wellingborough Town.
Rugby’s clash with Oadby takes place on Saturday, March 18 with kick-off at 3pm at the Riverside Football Ground.
