GARY Havelock has left his post as team manager of Coventry Bees after after four eventful season at the Elite League club.

The 47-year-old guided the Bees to the Elite League play-offs on two occasions during his time at Brandon.

In 2014 they lost out in the Grand Final to Poole, whilst in 2015 they were defeated semi-finalists against the same opponents after finishing second in the regular league table.

The 2016 campaign proved to be one to forget for Bees fans after finishing seventh in the Elite League table with 33 points from 28 meetings.

Havelock is one of the most popular names in British speedway following an illustrious career that saw him crowned World Champion back in 1992.

His career came to an end in early 2012 following a dangerous crash with fellow British rider Derek Sneddon and he moved into management with Coventry soon after.

Coventry promoter Mick Horton said: “Gary has other opportunities ahead, and we wish him all the best for the future.”
