GRASSTRACK - Masters on hold for Cossar brothers

MARK Cossar was denied the chance to win a record-breaking eighth British Masters grasstrack title following the abandonment of the event due to a serious injury to another rider.

Cossar was struggling with his setup in his first two outings in Essex, after finishing second and third respectively in his heats.

Mark said: “As soon as I wound the throttle on, the bike wanted to go up in the air.”

However, the meeting was a later in the day after solo rider Tim Nobes sustained serious injuries following a crash

Nobes crashed into and through the perimeter posts and ropes at high speed and is receiving treatment at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge for a double-break to his lower left arm and lacerations to his neck.

Younger brother Tom Cossar was the only sidecar rider unbeaten after the field had completed two races, overtaking Terry Saunters in superb style during an action-packed heat 14.

Fellow rider Chris Harris, also from Rugby, was unbeaten in his first two rides in the solo event as he chased a third consecutive masters title.

All three riders said that their thoughts were all with the unfortunate Tim Nobes.
