HOCKEY - Rugby and East Warwickshire Hockey Club enjoy weekend success

RUGBY and East Warwickshire Hockey Club enjoyed success across its various teams this weekend – with four out of seven side’s claiming victory.

 

The Ladies second team won 2-0 against Towcester thanks to goals from Katie and Charlie Woolliscroft.

 




And the Men’s fourth team also secured a win after beating Leicester 3-2 in a thriller with goals coming from Dave Renard, David Odwell and Mark Scobble.

 


The Men’s fifth team were 1-0 winners against Northampton Saints as Ed Newton’s deflected strike secured victory.

 

And the Men’s seventh team came from behind to win a seven-goal thriller 4-3 against Warwick.

 

The Men’s sixth team and under 16 girls side were both held to draws by Berkswell & BC and Bromsgrove respectively whilst the Ladies third team were beaten 3-1 by Loughborough Town.

 

RESULTS

REWHC Ladies 2nd 2-0 Towcester 2nd

A fantastic finish from Katie Woolliscroft and a goal from Charlie Woolliscroft saw Rugby ahead of Towcester whilst Mary Burton’s defensive play earned her player of the match.

 

REWHC Ladies 3rd 1-3 Loughborough Town 3rd

A second half marker to Laura was the only tally for Rugby as they fell 3-1 in a tight game away in Loughborough.

 

REWHC Men’s 4th 3-2 Leicester 3rd

Goals to Dave Renard, David Odwell and Mark Scobble saw Rugby ahead of Leicester as Leigh Spacey’s three assists earned him man of the match.

 

REWHC Men’s 5th 1-0 Northampton Saints

Ed Newton’s deflection was the lone marker as Rugby held out to secure three points. Charlie Hall earned man of the match.

 

REWHC Men’s 6th 2-2 Berkswell &BC 3rd

An early goal to Calum Mackay and a strong strike from James Harrison saw Rugby come away with a draw as Iain Thompson earned man of the match.

 

REWHC Men’s 7th 4-3 Warwick 5th

A comeback win for Rugby after going down by 2 within the first 10 minutes saw goals from Zander, Rupert, Clive and Paul Mourant. Man of the match went to Rich Allan.
