HOCKEY: RUGBY and East Warwickshire men’s first team had to share the points after drawing 4-4 with Stratford in the Midlands Men’s Premier Division.
There were defeats, however, for the seconds and thirds, who went down 2-1 to Old Halestonians and 8-1 to Atherstone in their contests. Rob Best scored Rugby’s lone goal for the 3rds while man of the match went to Charlie Crinnigan for putting in a lot of hard work in defence.
A hat-trick for David Odwell and a final goal for man-of-the-match Roman Lofthouse sealed a 4-0 victory for Rugby 4ths in the derby game against the 5ths.
Rugby conceded five goals in the first half as they crashed 5-0 to Hampton 4ths while Dave Assheton hit four goals in the 7ths’ 6-4 success against Coventry & North Warwick 3rds.
Rugby Ladies 1sts also had to share the honours in their Midland Women’s Premier contest against Harborne, drawing 1-1, while the Thirds eased to a 3-0 success against Nuneaton 2nds and the Fourths were 2-1 winners against Grammarians 1sts.
