THREE members of the Rugby Sport for the Disabled returned from Glevum with medals on Sunday and are hopeful of setting new National Crossbow Federation Records along the way.
Iris Bingham was in fine form once again in the Bradbury 1 category which saw particiapants shoot at a 45-metre target for all three rounds, but the target size increased from 40cm, to 60cm and finished with 80cm, while the gold ring began at 4cm before finishing on 8cm.
Despite the strong winds Bingham scored a total of 841 out of 900 points from 34 rings to win the Assisted event.
Speaking afterwards she said: “It was a very cold day. The very noisy motorbikes scrambling in the next field was a big distraction and the fumes were awful.”
Also shooting in the Bradbury 1 competition, Graeme Mooney scored 817 with 20 rings to win the Sport category, while team mate Kevin Rumble finished runner-up with 811 from 18 rings.
Graeme was delighted with his score, saying: “I enjoyed the shoot and it was nice to beat Kevin by six points. It was nip and tuck throughout the competition and neither of us knew who had won until the presentation.”
Other gold medals on the day went to Tony Reynolds who won the Gent Target category with a score of 630, the Senior Gent Sporting title was won by Alan Gregory with a score of 688, Adam Rapsey’s score of 606 won him the Gent Sporting Freestyle event and Graeme Peatfield (493) won the Medieval crown in the Bradbury 2 competition.
