Lutterworth come from behind to earn a point against Pinchbeck

FOOTBALL: LUTTERWORTH Town rescued a point against Pinchbeck United at the weekend.

The first half saw few clear cut chances as both teams were forced to strike from long range, though no one could break the deadlock.

Pinchbeck looked to hit the front men early and catch Lutterworth out, but Swifts’ back line were able to dominate the aerial battle and keep Town on the front foot.

Lutterworth’s expansive football could have easily led to the games opening goal, and the half time break seemed to come at the wrong time for them.

Pinchbeck on the other hand were grateful of the whistle as neither side managed to score in the opening half.

Lutterworth emerged from the break with a more composed mindset and committed players forward in search of an opening goal.

An attacking attitude led to Pinchbeck enjoying a spell of their own, in which Lutterworth keeper Kristian Bee made a top draw save to keep the score goalless.

It didn’t take long for Pinchbeck to take the lead though.

Some defensive hesitation allowed Pinchbeck to take the lead with only ten minutes remaining.

Despite being a goal down, Lutterworth rallied and started to push forward in numbers.

The introduction of Lynas King, Jordan Small and Billy Clark freshened up the Swifts attacking options.

Lutterworth’s patient build-up play saw King lift the ball into the area for Tendai Daire to head across goal and find Jordan Small who tapped in to earn the Swifts a vital point and maintain their unbeaten record.

Swifts: Kristian Bee, Kade Lewis (C), Justin Peace, Shaquille O’Neal Brooks (motm), Louis Samuels, Mark Warren, Rhys Roberts, Callum Riley, Liam Taylor, Tendai Daire, Marshal Keenan.

Subs: Jordan Small, Billy Clarke, Lynas King, Stefan Bjelic.

Swifts are next in action at home to Irchester United on Saturday, August 19.
