FOOTBALL: LUTTERWORTH Town continued their incredible start to life in the Everard’s Senior League Premier Division with a resounding 6-0 victory over Ingles on Saturday.
Confidence was high in the Swifts camp following last week’s cup win over Hinckley AFC but the home side knew they had to be at their best again to overcome an Ingles side who had previously held them to a 2-2 draw.
Lutterworth started brightly with both Louis Samuels and Luke Shaw proving effective down both flanks and it was only a matter of time before the breakthrough came when Samuels opened the scoring with his first goal for the club.
The lead was doubled soon after when ark Warren scored a majestic free kick to put the home side comfortably in control at half-time.
Normal service was resumed after the re-start as the visitors struggled to break down the Lutterworth defence which was led by skipper Kade Lewis.
More continued pressure up the other end led to Brooks making it 3-0 following a powerful run and finish.
The introduction of Ben Tye and Anthony Roberts gave Swifts some added vigour and it was Tye’s long throw that set up Roberts to fire home a fourth.
Soon enough a fifth goal came when Tendai Daire produced an unstoppable run into the box before finishing well to sea all three points.
There was still enough time to score a sixth as Daire grabbed his second after heading home another Tye throw in.
