RUGBY & East Warwickshire ladies’ first XI slipped to a second defeat in the Midlands Premier Division in a 4-2 defeat to Norths Notts.
Despite dominating periods of the contest, Rugby were unable to make the most of their opportunities presented to them, with Nicki Siarbawa firing both goals for the hosts from penalty corners.
The ladies’ second string also lost out in a 2-1 defeat to Sutton Coldfield Thirds, but were much improved from their previous defeat and, in similar fashion to the first team, should have taken their chances.
There were victories for REWHC’s ladies’ third team, who beat Edgbaston’s fourth team 1-0 thanks to Jess Evans’ goal, and for the ladies fourth side, who beat Sutton Coldfield Sevens 4-0.
A 1-1 draw between the men’s first XI and Hampton-in-Arden put a first point of the season on the board for Rugby, who went in front through Adam Hewitt before conceding a second-half equaliser.
REWHC’s men’s second team were not quite so fortunate in a 4-0 defeat to Coventry NW, while the Thirds were involved in a 3-3 thriller with Warwick Seconds – despite Archie Houghton, Gaz Unett and Toby Bower putting Rugby 3-1 up.
Meanwhile, the club’s fourth XI went down 2-1 to Loughborough’s fourth string, losing the game late on after James Harrison had equalised.
