MALE punters are being challenged to sport their smartest attire for Warwick Racecourse’s next standout race fixture.

Blazers, top hats and brightly coloured trousers will be on show for the Gentlemen’s and Kingmaker Chase Day next Saturday (February 13) as visitors bid to win the Best Dressed Gentleman Competition.

The best dressed race goers will be in with a chance of winning prizes which include a voucher worth £250 for a one night stay for two at the Ardencote Manor Hotel Country Club & Spa, a Seidensticker shirt from Heaphys of Warwick, a £50 voucher for Hamlington’s Fine Jewellery in Warwick and a tour and tasting session at Purity Brewery Co in Great Alne.

“For many, a day at the races is seen as a perfect opportunity to dress up in their finest and we’re hoping gents will enter into the spirit of this meeting and don their best attire,” said Andre Klein, general manager at Warwick Racecourse.

“Whilst we don’t operate a dress code, we always encourage getting dressed up for our bigger meetings as it can really make it all the more fun for racegoers.

“We’ve lined up some great prizes for the Best Dressed Gentleman Competition, and hopefully our judges will have a tough job on their hands picking out the winners.”

The Grade 2 Kingmaker Novices’ Chase will be the highlight of seven races, and live music will also be among the entertainment on the day.

Warwick Racecourse attracted a bumper crowd to its last weekend fixture, the Betfred Classic Chase Day, and Klein is hoping for a repeat on February 13.

He added: “The Kingmaker Chase Day is regarded as one of the leading trials for the Cheltenham Festival and once again promises to attract a top quality field with the chance of star chasers of the future making a name for themselves here.

“We’ve started the year really strongly and the atmosphere on the course has been fantastic.

“It’s been hugely encouraging that we’ve attracted people back to the course who haven’t been for a while, and likewise I know we’ve had lots of new racegoers join us and left having had a great day out.

“The launch of the £10 advance ticket rate for the Main Enclosure has been particularly popular, and is just one of a string of initiatives we’re working on to enhance the race experience.”

Tickets bought online are just £10 if purchased before midnight on February 9, and £15 from February 10 to midnight on February 12. Admission on the day is £20 per person.

Gates open at 11.05am, with the first race at 1.05pm and the last at 4.35pm. Further information and ticket details can be found at www.warwickracecourse.co.uk.
