RUGBY and East Warwickshire Hockey Club’s Ladies teams enjoyed a fine weekend with three wins from their four respective matches.
However, the club’s Men’s teams enjoyed a less successful week as the first, second and third teams were all beaten with only the fourth and fifth teams tasting victory.

REWHC Ladies 1st 2-1 Cannock 1st
A comeback win for Rugby in a tight game as Nicki Siarbawa jumped on a loose ball in the goalmouth to draw the scores level and Evie Phillips deflected a well placed ball into the goal to take the lead as Rugby looked the stronger side all game. Player of the match was awarded to Jen Law.
REWHC Ladies 2nd 2-1 Nuneaton
Lara Naylor and Regan Walker found the net in a game that saw Rugby dominate possession and chances at goal.
REWHC Ladies 3rd 3-0 Loughborough Town
Anna, Kat and Ruby Clark scored whilst Georgia earned player of the match as Rugby took a convincing win away in Loughborough.
REWHC Ladies 4th 0-2 REWHC Ladies Academy
Goals to Eve and Svara saw the Ladies Academy ahead of there wiser counterpart in the first derby of its kind.
REWHC Men’s 1st 1-4 Northampton Saints
An early Luke Armstrong goal was Rugby’s lone marker as they fell to Northampton in a frustrating game.
REWHC Men’s 2nd 2-6 Derwent
Early goals for Chris Harding and man of the match Phil Dickinson were not enough for Rugby to come away with a win as Rugby fell to Derwent.
REWHC Men’s 3rd 2-3 Derby 1st
A hard fought game saw Rugby lose through a penalty within the last 5 minutes as they battled back with goals from a Mathew Nobes dragflick and Roman Lofthouse drawing the keeper wide to finish the play into an open net. Calum Mackay’s play at centre back earned him man of the match.
REWHC Men’s 4th 6-1 Sikh Union Coventry
A David Odwell hat-trick as well as goals to Richard Spraget, Stuart Morgan and Richard Cook saw Rugby well ahead of Sikh Union in a strong performance. Jamie Carr earned man of the match for strong distribution through the middle.
REWHC Men’s 5th 2-0 Old Silhillian’s 3rd
Goals to Fez and Chris sealed a comfortable win for Rugby as Joe McCullough picked up man of the match.
