RUGBY and East Warwickshire Hockey Club’s endured a mixed week with as their Men’s first team tasted victory whilst their Ladies team were beaten in a close match.
The Men’s teams won five of seven matches, losing just one game, whilst the Ladies won just one of four fixtures in a difficult week.

REWHC Ladies 1st 2-3 Bedford 1st
Rugby suffered their first defeat of the season in a close fought match against Bedford that saw Evie Phillips finish off both of Rugby’s goals as Izzy Powell earned herself player of the match.
REWHC Ladies 2nd 5-0 Khalsa 3rd
A slew of goals for Rugby as Grace Calder netted two whilst Mary Burton, Jeni and Laura Harris each scored a goal apiece.
REWHC Ladies 3rd 0-2 Long Buckby 1st
Ruby Clark earned herself player of the match as Rugby came up short against a strong Long Buckby side.
REWHC Ladies 4th 0-5 Grammarians
A difficult game for Rugby saw them concede four goals in the first half before starting to drive the play in the second half.
REWHC Men’s 1st 4-1 Stratford 1st
Jim Dickinson earned man of the match whilst two goals to Luke Armstrong as well as markers to Jack Fisher and Charlie Darbyshire saw Rugby comfortably earn their first win of the season against Stratford.
REWHC Men’s 2nd 4-0 Nottingham Players
Man of the match Phil Dickinson finished off a hat-trick whilst Tom Hollis put the nail in the coffin as Rugby dominated the game throughout.
REWHC Men’s 3rd 2-4 Leicester Westleigh 1st
A game of two halves for Rugby as Man of the match Charlie Morrison and Madoc Williams gave Rugby a 2-1 lead in the first half as Matt Westbury saved a penalty minutes into the game before Leicester came back in the second half to secure the win.
REWHC Men’s 4th 2-1 Berkswell
A close game for Rugby saw Richard Cook and David Odwell put Rugby ahead whilst Josh Gibson’s efforts in goal earned him man of the match the secure the victory.
REWHC Men’s 5th 3-1 Wellingborough 1st
A pair of goals to Aidan SG and a final one to Ed Newton saw Rugby come back from an early goal as Luke M earned man of the match.
REWHC Men’s 6th 2-1 Atherstone 4th
Ollie and Felix scored to keep Rugby ahead of Atherstone whilst Noah earned man of the match for a strong performance throughout.
