RESULTS - Rugby and East Warwickshire Hockey Club

RUGBY and East Warwickshire Hockey Club claimed eight wins from their 12 matches as they enjoyed a stellar weekend.

 

The Men’s first team romped to a 7-0 win against Warwick University with Adam Hewitt scoring twice and Will Antrobus, James Cummins, Tom Robson, Chris Graham and Luke Armstrong all bagging one goal apiece.

 




And the Ladies second team were also comfortable winners after they eased past Loughborough Town 4-1 thanks to two goals from Lara Hussey and further strikes from Tilly Houghton and Regan Walker.

 


The Ladies fourth team secured a 3-2 win against Oundle as Melis Baysal’s brace coupled with Annie’s strike proved decisive whilst the Men’s second team beat Khalsa Leamington 1-0 courtesy of Richard Major’s penalty stroke.

 

Rugby’s Men’s third team came from two-nil down to eventually win 4-2 against Sikh Union Coventry as two goals from Mat Nobes added to strikes from Gaz Unett and Jamie Carr.

 

And the Men’s fourth team secured an emphatic 5-0 win against Wellingborough with David Odwell striking twice and further goals coming from Roman Lofthouse, Jordan and David Manning.

 

There was also success for Rugby’s over-35 Ladies side who dispatched Milton Keynes 5-0 and for the club’s over-40 Men’s side who beat Harborne 6-3 in a nine-goal thriller.

 

Both the Ladies first and third teams were held to 2-2 draws by Sutton Coldfield and Northampton Saints respectively.

 

And the Men’s fifth team suffered a heavy 7-0 defeat to Sikh Union Coventry’s second side whilst the Men’s sixth team were also beaten after losing 1-0 to Warwick’s fourth side.

 

RESULTS

REWHC Ladies 1st 2-2 Sutton Coldfield

Jess Naylor and Nicki Siarbawa both scored for Rugby who were chasing a win but unfortunately ran out of time before the go ahead goal.

 

REWHC Ladies 2nd 4-1 Loughborough Town 2nd

Two goals to Lara Hussey in addition to goals from Tilly Houghton and Regan Walker saw Rugby complete a solid game as player of the match went to Alice Whittaker.

 

REWHC Ladies 3rd 2-2 Northampton Saints 3rd

Rugby came back from a two goal deficit to secure a point thanks to goals from Ruby and Lisa Bell.

 

REWHC Ladies 4th 3-2 Oundle 2nd

Player of the match Melis Baysal scored twice with Annie also on target as Rugby secured three points in an early start in Oundle.

 

REWHC Men’s 1st 7-0 Warwick University

A dominant performance from Rugby in front of the home crowd saw two goals to Adam Hewitt and a goal apiece for Will Antrobus, James Cummins, Tom Robson, Chris Graham and Luke Armstrong. Man of the match went to Tom Carter for a solid performance in the middle.

 

REWHC Men’s 2nd 1-0 Khalsa Leamington 2nd

A penalty stroke from Richard Major was the lone marker as Rugby topped Khalsa in a tight game. Man of the match went to James Robinson.

 

REWHC Men’s 3rd 4-2 Sikh Union Coventry 1st

A comeback win for Rugby after going down by two early on, Mat Nobes struck twice as well as goals to Gaz Unett and Jamie Carr. Man of the match went to Charlie Crinnigan in defence.

 

REWHC Men’s 4th 5-0 Wellingborough

Goals to Roman Lofthouse, Jordan, David Manning and two to David Odwell saw Rugby put in a dominant win over Wellingborough as man of the match went to Jez Murphy.

 

REWHC Men’s 5th 0-7 Sikh Union Coventry 2nd

A difficult game for Rugby saw the scoreline overshadow the effort put in as Rugby had a couple of strong looks on goal. Man of the match went to Nick Harding.

 

REWHC Men’s 6th 0-1 Warwick 4th

A very hotly contested game saw Rugby on the wrong side of the scoreline despite a number of chances. Man of the match went to Brandon and Ollie.
