REWHC Men’s 1st XI 8 v 4 Sutton Coldfield

ON Saturday lunchtime REWHC played their first Midlands Premier 1st Team League game of the season against Sutton Coldfield.

With new Coach Leo Guy in place, pre-season training had been intense and progressive. REWHC had been well drilled in an aggressive formation and set up to attack with pace and power. New team members Stu Jones, Jack Adelston, Sam Kirk and Chris Harding had added respectively composure, directness, distribution and aggression to an established core.

After conceding first, REWHC gradually imposed themselves to take a 3-1 lead, only to be pegged back by half time to 3-3, with Sutton scoring well taken counter attacking goals.

After half time, REWHC ensured the match would not remain in the balance with some great attacking hockey that was much too strong for Sutton. In truth the winning margin could have been greater than the eventual 8-4 result.

Scorers were Szymon Oszyjczyk (5), Luke Hurle (2) and Jack Adelston (1).

In the early league table REWHC sit second on goal difference. A big opportunity awaits next weekend when the opposition are Khalsa away.
