JAMIE Roche scored two tries to guide Rugby Welsh to a 32-12 bonus-point victory at Dixonians in Midlands 5 West (South).
Welsh took the game to their opponents despite having to attack up a large slope in the first half, and went in front following a line-out when Jamie Roche finished off a move to go down between the posts.
Angus Wilson added the extras to ensure a positive start, who then improved the score with a penalty prior to Roche’s second converted try of the afternoon.
The hosts did find a route back into the game when scoring a try in the last move of the half, backed up by a second score after the interval.
With momentum favouring Dixonians, the visitors regrouped and began to push forward once more, though Roche was denied his hat-trick try when losing the ball when going over the line.
Leigh Colledge made amends with a converted try, followed by Adam Bond’s late score to wrap up the win and add a bonus point to Rugby’s tally.
The result sends Welsh up to fourth, ahead of visiting Aylestone St James in the third round of the Midlands Junior Vase on Saturday (3pm).
