TIM Fenemore, from Rugby, won double gold in the final international race of the 2024 offshore coastal rowing season.
Fenemore and his crew returned to Trieste, Italy, and took home two gold medals following success in the same event the previous year.
Competitors from across Italy, USA, Germany, Slovenia, Ireland and Great Britain took part in the race which saw a record 383 entrants.
On race day, rowers were greeted to sunny conditions with light winds while crews had to change boats between races.
In the masters quad 55 to 64-years-old age category race, Fenemore rowed alongside Ricky Rouille (Jersey), Alberto Millo (Trieste) and Andrea Pareschi (Trieste).
And local cox Alessandro Lorenzon (Trieste) expertly steered the crew around the course over a 6km distance.
The crews bunched together for the first 500 metres before Fenemore’s boat began to accelerate away from the fleet.
Fenemore and his crew avoided trouble and increased their lead to one minute and 40 seconds – around 400 metres – at the end of the race.
The crew returned to race control to change boats as Fenemore and Rouille raced together in a double.
However, the duo were last to arrive at the start line and chased the other boats from the off.
The pair steered around crashes and took a good line to the first buoy and rowed through the whole fleet to lead position.
They took a tight line around the course to extend their lead to 26 seconds at the finish line to claim a second gold medal.
Fenemore and Rouille enjoyed a hugely successful year on the water following successes in England, Wales, Jersey, Ireland and Monaco.
