Rugby Borough eye Vase progress

Rugby Editorial 13th Sep, 2018   0

RUGBY Borough joint-bosses Joe Conneely and Neil Collett will be up for the cup as they bid to book a place in the first round proper of the FA Vase.

Borough play host on Saturday to West Midlands (Regional) League Division One outfit Bustleholme, who have lost all five of their league games so far.

Despite the Black Country side’s abysmal league record so far, Conneely knows all too well that form goes out the window when it comes down to knockout competitions.

Having knocked out higher-ranked Malvern Town in the first qualifying round, Borough are expecting another tough test.

“We’re looking forward to the challenge that Bustleholme will give us,” said Conneely.

“I know they haven’t started the season well but we’re expecting a very tough game anyway.

“For either side to reach the first-round proper of the FA Vase would be a tremendous achievement – let’s hope it’s us!”
