JUNIOR triathlete Tom Tyler will represent the West Midlands at the British Triathlon Inter-Regional Championships later this year after a positive result at the SuperTri Children’s Open Water Triathlon.
The Rugby Junior TC member will head to Mallory Park in September after finishing 19th overall and third within the West Midlands boys’ team at the SuperTri event at Dorney Lake in Buckinghamshire.
This was Tyler’s first time racing at elite level.
He got off to a slow in the 300m open water swim start but soon put his early problems behind him, picking up the pace in the 5.4km cycle event to move up to fourth within the West Midlands contingent.
He then put up a dogged display during the 2.5km run to climb up to third and finish 19th overall.
