Rugby Lions Minis & Juniors gearing up for another season

Rugby Editorial 7th Sep, 2018   0

RUGBY Lions Minis and Juniors are looking forward to another busy season with their registration day taking place next on Sunday.

Offering rugby to boys and girls, the Lions are always keen to welcome new players looking to try the sport for the first time or those looking for a new club.

A full training session will also run on the registration day while coaches, team managers and committee members will be on hand to answer any questions from parents and players alike.

Registration and training starts from 10am at the Rugby Lions ground on Webb Ellis Road.

Keen to continue to make rugby accessible for local children in the birth town of the sport, a full playing kit will once again be provided to all new members.

Jamie Lambert, membership secretary and U13s coach, said: “We saw a fantastic growth in playing numbers across our Mini & Junior Teams last season with a 40 per cent increase in registered players.

“This growth is down to the fantastic coaching and support from our players’ parents who have been busy across the summer break undertaking coaching courses, arranging our Minis Rugby Festival and preparing for the season ahead.

“Through our coaches, we demonstrate the RFU’s core values of the sport – Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship – and playing rugby provides children with great life skills for their futures ahead.

“We also strongly believe in the RFU’s Half Game initiative meaning all players get at least half a game’s playing time, every game – regardless of ability. ”

New players can just turn up and join in the training day on Sunday at 10am.
