THE Old Laurentian Dragonesses won their first-ever tournament in the West Midlands Girls Tag League.

Old Laurentian Dragonesses beat Bedworth 6-5 in the final after extra time on home turf at Fenley Field in Bilton.

The Dragonesses started the tournament with a convincing 9-3 win against Yardley and then beat Old Leamingtonians 8-2 in the group stages.

And a 9-2 victory against Alcester saw the Dragonesses reach the semi-finals.

Old Laurentian then thrashed Berkswell and Balsall 8-3 to book their place in the final.

Final opponents Bedworth had won the last four tournaments.

However, Old Laurentian took the game to extra time with the scores locked at four-apiece after 10 minutes.

And despite Bedworth taking the lead in the extra period, Old Laurentian scored two unanswered tries to claim the title.

The Dragonesses play in the West Midlands Girls Tag League which features tag rugby teams from all over the Midlands.

Squad ages range from eight to 17-years-old.
