Rugby Editorial 2nd Nov, 2018   0

RUGBY rally driver Ashleigh Morris is preparing to take on the Motorsport News Circuit Championship which kicks off this Saturday with the Neil Howard Stages at Oulton Park.

Morrisd will take to the stages in her Ford Fiesta R200, run by TnS Rally, with experienced co-driver Jamie Mactavish back in the navigator’s seat.

After finishing the 2017/18 season second in Class B, this year the Ashleigh Morris Rallying team are hoping to go one better and win the class.

They are also competing in the Michelin Cup, open to championship competitors who are running Michelin tyres.

The Neil Howard Stages consists of nine special stages on the famous Oulton Park circuit, incorporating the venue’s rally course and perimeter roads and is Oulton Park’s season-closer, finishing with a spectacular firework display and bonfire.

“I can’t wait to get back out in the car this weekend,” said Morris.

“I’ve only competed at Oulton Park once before but it’s a great venue with a good variety of stages including the infamous water splash.”

“Some 100 cars will be competing this weekend so there is some tough competition but we will try our best to get some decent points to make a good start to our season.

“After Oulton Park we head to Cadwell Park then Knockhill where we had a strong result last year>”

The Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship consists of eight rounds at some of the UK’s premier race circuits from November to April.

Each event consists of approximately 50 stages miles over a variety of challenges from crests and jumps to water splashes.
