RUGBY Town Juniors held its 18th annual soccer festival at its ever-expanding Kilsby Lane facility with age groups being split over three weekends.

The Under-11s and Under-12s were in action first on May 22 with ten teams taking part in the Under-11s tournament which was won by Grande Park, who had travelled up from Northampton.

Rugby Town Pumas made it to the semi-final stage but were knocked out by Ardley from Oxford.

A total of eight teams competed in the Under-12 tournament with both Rugby Town teams progressing though to the final four. A 2-0 win for Rugby Town Boys over the Colts saw them take on Barrow Town in the final and it was the hosts who were crowned winners after a penalty shoot-out.

The Under-7s and Under-7 minors were in action on June 6 where a total of 11 Rugby Town dies battled it out against 13 other teams from the local area.

All 24 teams played a total of 50 minutes of football but no scores were rewarded in what was strictly a non-competitive festival of football for the youngsters.

The rain failed to spoil the fun for the Under-8s, Under-9s and Under-10s last weekend (June 13-14) as 18 teams in the Under-8s section enjoyed a non-competitive tournament.

The competitive football continued with two Rugby Town teams hoping to reach the quarter-finals of the Under-9s tournament.

Rugby Town Lions made it through to the knockout stage but lost out to Bedworth in the semi-final, with West Haddon winning the tournament.

The last age group saw 12 Under-10 sides do battle with Rugby Town Pumas making it to the semi-final before losing to eventual tournament winners Solihull.

Over 200 games were played over three weekends and Rugby Town would like the thank all the referees, volunteers, staff, players, managers and parents.
