OLD Laurentians remain winless after slipping to a 25-9 home defeat against Vipers in their second league game of the season.
The home side failed to score a try as Dan O’Brien kicked all nine of OL’s points at Fenley Field.
The result means Old Laurentians sit 10th in the Counties 1 Midlands East (South) table after two matches following a 21-15 defeat against Stewarts and Lloyds on the opening day.
OL’s young team battled well for large periods and took the lead on 25 minutes as O’Brien kicked his first penalty of the match.
Vipers dominated at the scrum throughout but OL’s restricted their opponents well, keeping the visitors pinned in their own half for long periods.
The teams traded penalties before the Vipers pack muscled over the line from a lineout to take a narrow two-point lead into the break.
O’Brien put OL’s ahead for the third time with another successful penalty only for Vipers to score their second try from a lineout.
As OL’s began to tire, Vipers took the game out of the home side’s reach with two late tries.
Old Laurentians are next in action against Peterborough Lions on Saturday, September 21 with kick-off at 3pm at Bretton Park.
