OLD Laurentians suffered a fourth consecutive defeat after losing 59-14 at home to title challengers Market Bosworth.

Luke Townsend and Henry Fox crossed for OL’s tries at Fenley Field while the visitors had a player sent off for a high tackle.

And the result means Old Laurentians sit sixth in the Counties 1 Midlands East (South) table.

Bosworth ran in four converted tries in the opening 20 minutes to secure an early bonus point before Townsend reduced the deficit as the visitors went into the break with a 35-7 lead.

And the away side scored four more tries after the break before Fox touched down at the death for Old Laurentians.

Bosworth had a player sent off in the second period for a high tackle on Wilf Sansum who will now miss the majority of the rest of the season with both teams reduced to 12 players at one stage.

Old Laurentians are next in action away at Spalding on Saturday, March 23 with kick-off at 3pm at Drain Bank.

Elsewhere, the club’s second team cruised to a 61-24 against Market Bosworth’s second XV as a blend of youth and experience proved too much for the visitors.

OL’s fielded eight Colts players who all impressed while four father and son combinations also took to the field – Gary and Josh Hammond, Martin and Billy Nobes, Barry and Ben Hipwell and Ricky and Charlie Reed.
