BEN Davison crossed twice as Rugby St Andrews secured a 12th successive victory with a 37-0 bonus point win against Northampton Mens Own.

Davison touched down either side of the break while Ryan Taylor, Kalum Goodfellow and new signing John Subong all scored tries for Saints at the Hillmorton Grounds.

And the result means Rugby remain top of the Counties 3 Midlands East (South) table eight points clear of closest challengers Northampton BBOB.

Saints made a strong start after Northampton dropped the ball from kick-off and Chris Halcrow kicked a penalty.

And the home side ran in their first try of the game on nine minutes as Rugby shoved the visitors off the ball at their own scrum and Tom Muat passed to Taylor who raced over with Halcrow converting.

Halcrow kicked a second penalty soon after to extend Saints lead before a thunderous tackle saw the ball come loose which allowed Davison to sprint the length of the pitch and score under the posts.

And the hosts scored their third try when a powerful rolling maul saw Goodfellow barge his way over the line from close range to hand Saints a 25-point lead at the break.

Saints scored their bonus point try at the start of the second period as Davison crossed for his second of the game.

And new recruit Subong completed the scoring with the home side’s fifth try as the replacement squeezed over in the corner.

Saints defended well throughout to nil their opponents and also maintain their perfect record with a 12th victory from as many matches.

Rugby are next in action against Castle Donington on Saturday, February 10 with kick-off at 2.15pm at Spital Park.

Elsewhere, the club’s second team romped to a huge 55-0 win against Aylestone Athletic.

Rob Bainbridge, Euan Marshall (2), Fraser Caithness, Matty Souster and Issac Skinner were among the try scorers.
