RUGBY Sport for the Disabled Association returned from the 18m Indoor Nationals for archery with three gold medals for their talented archers recently.
The national tournament, held near Streetly on April 7, allowed each competitor 60 scoring shots at a three-spot 40cm target.
The under-18s event was won by Jacob Clough, who was making his debut in the sport.
He shot a stunning 589 points out of 600 available to win the title, and gain a national record in the process.
Elsewhere in the ladies’ Sport Freestyle competition, Iris Bingham also struck gold, firing her way to 578 points – despite suffering shoulder pains during the contest.
The pains however did not stop her claiming Sport Freestyle World and European, and national records.
Graeme Mooney hit 584 to claim the men’s title, Laura Peatfield claimed the ladies crown (568), Tony Reynolds took the gents title (539), while Keith Reynolds won the senior gent’s tournament (220).
Rugby’s crossbowers will return to action at the Nuneaton Outdoor event on Sunday June 30.
