Rugby's Mark Cossar stays cool to win hot final

Rugby Editorial 20th Jul, 2018   0

IN AN extremely tense final which had to be restarted three times, Rugby’s Mark Cossar held his nerve to win the penultimate round of the 2018 British Sidecar Speedway Championship at Kings Lynn.

Together with his effervescent passenger Carl Blyth, Cossar powered to his fifth victory of the evening after winning all four of his heats.

With the fourth and deciding round at Belle Vue, Manchester on Saturday, October 13, Cossar has put himself in with a great chance of successfully defending his title.

However, he has Nottingham’s Paul Whitelam in very close contention, not to mention his uncompromising arch rival Rod Winterburn from Yorkshire.

Mark’s younger brother Tom Cossar was unlucky not to make the semi-finals at Kings Lynn, scoring six points including a heat win, despite one bike failure.

Also from Rugby, Gareth Williams (as passenger to Matt Fumarola) had an encouraging night, scoring five points, featuring a heat win too.
