THE PENULTIMATE evening time trial of the season at Rugby Racing Cycling Club saw Ryan Kenworthy finish the 7.25-mile course as winner.
Starting at Willoughby and finishing at Braunston after looping the A45 island at Dunchurch, conditions were tough with the fine weather and humid atmosphere taking the edge off fat finishing times.
Kenworthy, 19, crossed the finish line in 16 minutes and eight seconds to take the win and he was closely followed by Andy Craig who finished just seven seconds behind in second place.
Craig was the highest points scorer in the first claim members competition, the sixth rider to do so this season.
In the points competition, Craig McKee clinched first place weeks ago but in the handicap section, Ben Robson has quietly moved to the top of the table but any one of four riders could confirm the win at next week’s 5-mile event.
