LEAMINGTON Spartans’ second team made a winning return to WBA Division Two after a 56-42 win over Coventry Tornadoes took them into seventh.

It was the visiting Tornadoes who stormed their way into an early 22-10 lead, prior to a Spartans revival led by Enrique Carbonells – who scored 11 points in all.

Aided by Lee Frost and Max Barraud, a pair who added nine points each, took Leamington to within four points of their rivals at 39-35 heading into the final quarter.

With momentum continuing, Leamington scored 21 points and only conceded three points as the Tornadoes blew their lead.

In Division One, Warwick China Red were made to pay for a string of absences when going down 70-61 to Tile Hill Trojans 2 to remain rock bottom.

Rugby Rage were outdone by a Neil Evans-inspired Tamworth Tigers side, losing 62-50 at Rawlet College. Despite defeat, Rugby remain fifth.
