FOOTBALL: RUGBY Town Under 7s came close to causing an upset in the final of the Midlands Cup.
The youngsters came up against some of the strongest teams in Warwickshire, Leicestershire, West Midlands and Northamptonshire during the tournament.
Tigers defeated AFC Hinckley, Burbage, and St Johns as they progressed as group runners up.
A quarter final draw against local rivals Hillmorton Clarets saw Tigers win 5-0 while a close affair in the semi-final ended in a one-goal win against GNG from Leicester.
Strong play up front and in defence saw Rugby Town Under 7s reach the final against the pre-academy team in Santos.
A late strike for Santos saw Tigers defeated 1-0 – a shame for the boys who fell just short of winning.
