Table-toppers Borough make it ten out of ten

RUGBY Borough powered to a perfect ten after extending their 100 per cent winning start to the season by sweeping aside Desford 5-0.

The result – a 10th win from 10 games – keeps Borough top of the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division on goal difference from Thurnby Rangers, who have played three games more.

Last Saturday, Rugby held a 1-0 lead at half-time at Kilsby Lane after an even first period, with Halim Halim finished off good interplay from man of the match Bren King and Ash Piper.

But the hosts stepped it up after the break, Halim turned creator with the cross for King to fire into the top corner and then they both combined for Dale Linton to tuck home a third goal.

Substitute Jack Hilton made it 4-0 and Piper wrapped it up with a fifth after wriggling free from his marker.

Rugby will be looking to continue their remarkable start to the season on Saturday when FC Khalsa GAD are the visitors.
