Turton treble gets Borough firing

Rugby Editorial 17th Oct, 2019   0

A HAT-TRICK from Josh Turton got Rugby Borough back up and running after a two-week break with a 5-0 thrashing of Friar Lane & Epworth on Saturday.

The win against their fellow Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division rivals put Borough comfortably in the hat for the next round of the Beacon Hill League Cup – with the result all the more impressive considering Friar Lane had only lost one game going into the tie.

The hosts went in front through Turton’s strike from just outside the area, to the delight of the Kilsby Lane faitfhul.

Turton and Borough had two minutes later when the forward met Tom Rawlings’ cross towards the back post.

Despite no more goals arriving in the first half, the second followed in the same vein with Turton securing the match ball when picking out the bottom corner with pinpoint precision.

Charlie Cook added to the scoreline with a curled finish, before Shaun Barber completed the drubbing with a free kick that was whipped into the back of the net.
